What is Pokopia?
Pokopia is a building and simulation game developed by Koei Tecmo and Game Freak, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. You play as Ditto, transforming into different Pokémon to learn their skills and rebuild the world around you.
- Main story: roughly 20 to 30 hours
- Completionist run: 80+ hours
- Core loop: befriend Pokémon, learn skills, build habitats, restore each area
How the Story Works
There are four main areas to complete, followed by the endgame and a generous post-game.
After finishing the first area (Withered Wasteland), you can choose to tackle Bleak Beach or Rocky Ridges in either order. Sparkling Skylands always comes last.

| Ho-Oh | To be confirmed | Likely tied to the Rainbow Feather |
Magnet Rise
Unlocked in the post-game, Magnet Rise lets you fly freely in any direction, place blocks from the air, and absorb materials while floating. It completely changes how you build.
Dream Islands
Unlocked via Drifloon, Dream Islands can be explored solo or with a friend in co-op. They contain unique materials, special dolls, and some even lead to legendary Pokémon encounters.
Mysterious Slates
There are 27 slates in total (A through Z, plus ?!). Use the Dowsing Machine alongside a Search Pokémon to find them hidden across the world. Collecting all 27 summons Mew.
Mysterious Feathers
- Rainbow Feather: drops from the sky when you hear a Pokémon roar. Likely connected to Ho-Oh.
- Silver Feather: appears the same way. Likely connected to Lugia.
Beginner Tips
- Save your Life Coins. They are tempting to spend early, but you will need them for important purchases later on.
- Build habitats as soon as you can. More Pokémon means more Specialties, which speeds up your progress across every area.
- Get a Chop Pokémon early. Lumber is one of the most-used materials in the game and you will burn through it fast.
- Get a Burn Pokémon early too. You need Bricks from Clay and Ingots from the Furnace constantly.
- Set up a Community Box with Gather Pokémon. This gives you passive material collection while you focus on quests.
- Plant crops regularly. Food fuels the cooking system, which upgrades Ditto's skills.
- Talk to every Pokémon you see. Some have side requests that reward rare items.
- Do not ignore Litter Pokémon. They automatically drop critical materials like Iron Ore and Paper.
- Use the Dowsing Machine often. Pair it with a Search Pokémon to find hidden items and slates.
- Check the weather. Some rare Pokémon only appear during rain or sunshine.
- Play at different times of day. Certain Pokémon are night-exclusive.
- Rebuild Pokémon Centers. They unlock PC shops and give you access to more Building Kits.
- Keep Recycle Pokémon near trash piles. Free Iron Ore and Paper with zero effort.
- Feed Mosslax daily. After waking Mosslax up, feeding it grants daily buffs to item rarity or spawn rates.
Which Area Should You Do After Withered Wasteland?
You can pick Bleak Beach or Rocky Ridges in any order. Here is a quick comparison:
| Bleak Beach First | Rocky Ridges First |
|---|---|
| Learn Surf early for better exploration | Learn Strength early to move boulders |
| Unlock Beach and Water-type Pokémon | Unlock Fire and Rock-type Pokémon plus the Furnace |
| Generally easier to complete | Gives you access to more crafting materials sooner |
Our recommendation: go to Bleak Beach first. Surf opens up so many new areas to explore that it is worth grabbing as early as possible.
